Service Description

Focus Training – Horsemanship to Cow Work Progression Mount Beppo, Queensland Focus Training is a structured program designed to help riders develop clear foundations, effective communication, and confident progression from horsemanship through to cow work. This program bridges the gap between flatwork and cattle by teaching riders how to correctly influence their horse’s body using seat, leg, and timing — skills that are essential before introducing cattle. Rather than rushing outcomes, Focus Training focuses on understanding first, creating calmer horses, more confident riders, and smoother progression into group sessions, clinics, and competition environments. ⸻ How the Program Works Focus Training follows a clear, progressive structure: • Horsemanship Foundations Rider position, balance, and effective leg use. Learning how to control individual parts of the horse’s body with clarity and consistency. • Mechanical Cow Development Translating flatwork into purposeful movement, improving timing, feel, and positioning before live cattle exposure. • Cow Work Progression Applying solid foundations to cattle, supporting the horse’s confidence, and developing control and decision-making. Each stage builds logically on the last, ensuring both horse and rider are set up to succeed. ⸻ Session Format • Small group sessions • Structured progression (some sessions must be booked together) • Evening and early-morning sessions during warmer months • One-day clinic formats during cooler months • Under-lights training for comfort and focus ✔ Riders must supply their own horse ✔ Suitable for committed riders at various stages ⸻ Who This Program Is For Focus Training is ideal for riders who: • Want to improve feel, timing, and confidence • Need stronger foundations before cattle work • Are preparing for clinics, group sessions, or competition • Value understanding over shortcuts ⸻ Why Focus Training Works ✔ Clear step-by-step progression ✔ Emphasis on correct foundations ✔ Builds confidence for horse and rider ✔ Reduces confusion and resistance ✔ Creates safer, more effective cow work Focus Training forms the foundation of many other services at JR Cutting & Performance Horses and is the ideal pathway for riders wanting long-term improvement.
